Check out the Exhibits at HCAC! July 3- August 14, 2009 Gallery I: [trans] TEXTURE. Artwork created with handmade paper or paper pulp. The pieces range from prints to pulp paintings to sculpture and the work has a tactile quality. The artists featured in the exhibit are Shannon Brock, Georgia Deal, Ellen Hill, Nnenna Okore and Gretchen Schermerhorn. Gallery II: No Boundaries, features artwork created by persons with disabilities. The No Boundaries exhibit features pieces which were created in art clasees run by the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, the goal of these programs is to provide an opportunity for individuals with varying degrees of developmental disability to participate in an art class designed for self-expression, independence and relaxation.
A free reception for both exhibits will be held on Tuesday, July 22, from 6-9 p.m. The reception will include an Open Mic Night beginning at 6:30 pm, to sign up to perform contact Wendy Meetze at 410-313-2787.

This biennial exhibition opens October 30 and runs through December 11, the guest juror is Amanda Burnham of Towson University. Deadline is August 21, at 5pm. Download prospectus here or drop by the Center for the Arts and pick-one up. This is your change to be a part of one of Howard County's most anticipated exhibits! The exhibits program at the Howard County Center for the Arts was established to enhance the public's appreciation of the visual arts, to provide a professional venue to exhibit the work of local and regional artists, and to provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of visual arts in all media, both traditional and contemporary. Exhibits are free and open to the public. The program showcases the work of local, regional and national artists - emerging and established - working in all media.
Eight to ten exhibits are presented annually. Artists and curators interested in having their work presented are asked to submit images and proposals for consideration. Exhibits are selected and presented in the context of multi-disciplinary, thematic, juried and invitational exhibits. This broad curatorial approach ensures that the program presents diverse artistic viewpoints while meeting the needs of the community. Upcoming FY09 Exhibits Upcoming Exhibits
